I wanted to open the new year on a run even if my foot was in pain.  I ran 2.11 miles at an overall 7:58 pace at 3am this morning.  I couldn't sleep so I decided to get up and run.  I saw an Ambulance out in a couple different areas on my run.  My foot did hurt afterwards, but I took some Motrin and that seemed to help.

I'm having acupunture done tomorrow, and hopefully that will help.  I'm really keeping busy to distract my running.   The xbox 360 that I got for christmas helps, especially playing Madden football 09 and Ncaa football 08.

I ran 3.1 miles in an overall 6:44 pace in 20.30 minutes.  I had my wife following me in the car in case my foot started hurting bad, and to stop me in case I tried to run further.  I didn't have any discomfort running.  I did feel it just barely but nothing that was bad at all.  It's not even really sore after the run.  But we will see in a little while how things are.

I'm going to be careful and not run tomorrow, and try to run every other day until I know it's completely healed.  I had acunpunture done on it yesterday and that seemed to help.

I actually ran 8.34 miles today at an overall 7:17 pace in 1 hour with no pain.  Although, the wind was terrible and it was snowing and it was icy, and I fell twice.  Both my knees were scraped up and one was bleeding, and they are very sore right now.  One of them I know is going to be black and blue.  The temperature was 10 degrees with the wind blowing at 10 to 15 mph.  Considering the wind chill factor in today's morning run it made it -2.  Good thing I'm off work today to let the knees rest.

Good news is my foot never hurt the whole time, and it feels good after the run.   I have another acupuncture appointment today at 3:45pm.  I believe it helped my foot on the first treatment.

I really should have ran at the gym today instead of outside.  It was really a bad move on my part.  I really hate treadmills though.

This morning it was icy and it was snowing a bit again which made it another fun morning run.  Although the temperature was warmer than yesterday at 18 degrees so that made the run more pleasant.   I ran 8.5 miles in 1:03.  My knees were a little sore on the run, but that was to do with the cuts on the knees from the fall yesterday.  Although,  my Abductor muscle really hurt in the run this morning.  When I fell for the second time yesterday I did the splits, and I felt something uncomfortable near the groin area when I got back up.

My foot doesn't feel too bad this morning, but it's not 100% either after the run.  I still need to be careful coming back.  I might not run tomorrow.

I'm seriously considering not running any races this year.  I don't know if I want to be gone so many weekends without my family again.  If I do run any marathons I will only do two this year.

I believe God's trying to tell me to cut back on my running and focus in other areas in my life that I've neglected.

Lunch

I did 300 sit-ups and 100 push-ups.  I've really increased my sit-ups and push-up lately, but I still have spaghetti arms and not a very toned belly.

I decided to run at the gym today, because the wind was blowing up to 30 mph and very slick.  I didn't want to risk falling on an already injured body.  I ran 6.23 miles in 41 mintues on the treadmill at Gold's Gym.  My left inner thigh muscle right next to the groin is really sore, along with my left knee which had sharp pains in it during the run.  I believe the knee is just from soreness from the fall on Monday.  My body is definitely responding that maybe I shouldn't run at all anymore.   No problem I have a positive attitude and there's other things in life as far as fitness goods that I can do if I have to take a break from running.

I did do 1 mile at a 5:40 pace then over 2 minutes at a 4:56 pace.  This probably wasn't the best on the knee or thigh, but I figured if I get worse so what and it might be God's way of shutting me down.

It was a warm morning at 43 degrees with a 16 mph wind.  I was warm by the second mile, because I really over-dressed.  That's okay the more I sweat the more calories burned.  I ran 8.32 miles at an overall 7:29 pace in 1:02.  I felt crappy on the whole run.  My  abductor/groin/thigh whatever hurt (I know where it hurts but not really the root of the problem yet).  My knee had sharp pains at times (which was do to the fall on Monday, because it hurts right on the cuts and bruises).  My foot really didn't hurt, but it's still not a 100% either, it does have some dull pain to the touch.

My body just didn't want to run even with 9 hours of sleep the last two nights.  I did rub some MYO MED on my inner thigh last night.  My body is basically falling apart limb by limb :-).  That's okay it will work itself out and you have to have patience and a good attitude.

I don't need to race to make me happy.  I just like staying fit, and I can do other exercises if I can't run.  Life is too short to worry about falling behind in your training or not being ready for a race.  I'll we need to do each day when we wake up is give our thoughts and desires to the Lord and the day will come out okay.     I would rather have the Lord be the first thought in the day than running.  I can't take my accomplishments with me, but I can take God's word everywhere.

I probably won't run Saturday or Sunday to give the body some needed rest.  It's just to broken down to train.  But like I said that's okay.  Time/patience has it's way of bringing success back.

 Lunch

 Sit-ups and Push-ups.

The temperature this morning was around 25 - 28 degrees and there was some wind but not bad.  I didn't have a lot of time this morning to run because of early morning work meetings.  I didn't really want to run a lot anyway with the way my body has felt so I ran 6.2 miles in 43 minutes. Splits (7:29, 6:55, 6:55,6:54,6:52,7:03) .  I was still sore on the knee and groin but not as bad.  My thigh was really sore after the run though.  I'm still contributing all this to the fall on Monday on the ice. I fell really hard so I know soreness was going to come from that.

Foot hasn't been an issue at all.  I ran a route around Yellowstone St. and down Poleline St. and back down Mckinley Ave.  I only ran by feel and nothing else, not really trying to push any sort of pace.

My plans for tomorrow, I have no plan.  I haven't decision if I want to run or not.  If I do run it will be a short run.  I really don't feel like doing any long runs right now.

Lunch:

Push-ups and Sit-ups same routine that I've done every lunch hour.  Plus I did mor sit-ups and push-ups at 5pm.  I will do another set before bed.

This morning I decided that I would run.  Where I didn't know if I was going to or not.the night before because of soreness.  I ran 10.22 miles at an overall 7:04 pace in 1:12, and all just by feel.  This is the first 10 mile run in probably three weeks and it felt good.  My thighs are still a little sore after the run, but my groin and knee didn't experience any pain whatsoever.  That was exciting and great progress for becoming injury free.  I'm still sore in areas where I shouldn't be, but that's okay, I'll just be patient.  It's a mystery where I experience pain and then it just goes away without really knowing what caused it.  The temperature was 26 degrees with some wind this morning when I started at 8am.

After that I did a lot of heavy lifting at our daycare where my wife bought some huge cabinet's and more play equipment.  It took us three hours to do what we needed to get done at the daycare.

I will not run tomorrow.  I want my body to get some rest to start a fresh week.

Evening:

I ran another 4.71 miles at an overall  7:15 pace tonight.  I decided to run again just to get over 50 miles for the week.  Nothing special just a nice relaxing run thinking about what this year is going to bring for my family and me.

Did really want to run today after my wife and I got done with our morning devotions that we've started doing now for the last two weeks.  Right now running isn't that important to me anymore.  I'm running to keep the fitness which is important.  God needs to be ahead of the balance in my life..  I ran 5.33 miles at an overall 6:52 pace in 36.37 minutes.  I had a meeting and that's all I had time for and that's really all I wanted to run anyway.  It was a warm morning some around 30 degrees I believe.  I didn't check the weather this morning before I headed out the door, but there was a nice wind.

I didn't really have a lot of time to run this morning, because I needed to take my kids to school today, because my Aunt, (my wife's business partner in the Daycare), went to the emergency room yesterday.

Yesterday morning she experienced the following symptoms:  very pale, shortness of breath, chest pains and just looked awful.  Also the day before she was complaining about her right shoulder hurting quite a bit.   My wife and I thought she might be experiencing a heart attack.  With this happening her husband drove her to the Hospital's emergency center.  They gave her a muscle relaxer and that didn't help.  They gave her Morphine and that didn't help.  They did two EKG's and they couldn't find anything.  They sent her home after being there for over  8-10 hours and she was still loopy from the Morphine and felt the same way.  I can't believe they sent her home still under the effect of Morphine and still feeling the same way when she went in.   She does see a specialist today at 10am for further testing.

Anyway, I ran 5.11 miles at an overall 6:46 pace.  Splits (7:37, 6:47, 6:15, 6:31,6:38) all flat miles some uphill.  I won't have time for anymore running today, but that's okay the cut-back is good.

It's a little depressing to look at what I was running last year in January 08 (80 -90 weeks) compared to the start of this January, but I decided to cut-down this year and I need to keep that focus.

Please say a prayer for my aunt.

This morning was really foggy and the temperature was 19 degrees.  After morning devotions with my wife I ran 5.34 at 6:37 pace in 35.24 minutes.  I had to take my kids to school so I didn't have anytime to run longer.  Maybe I'll just run 5 miles everyday for now on, it's a good number and a decent fitness workout.  Anyway my splits were (7:13, 6:56, 6:21, 6:24, 6:09).

One thing I haven't mentioned the last few blogs is my body seems totally healthy no pain or soreness anywhere so that's good.

After morning devotions with my wife, I looked outside and the fog was thick again today.  I had more time today and decided to run longer even though I really wasn't motivated to run at all.  The temperature was 21 degrees with no wind which is weird for here to have no wind.

I ran 11.21 miles at an overall 6:55 pace in 1:17.  I picked up the last four miles just for fun (5:52, 5:57, 6:21, 6:51).   All in all a good run which I did my standard Satterfield Rd route, and I was tired and struggling going up the Satterfield hill.  I can tell I've lost fitness going up hills, because I've stayed away from them because of the previous injury.

Mileage wise this week I have no goal.  I'm taking one day at a time.

After morning devotion with my wife, which was very good about honoring one another with love when we make the true commitment in marriage.  When we make that commitment we need to have the most greatest respect for our spouse and honor their feelings, because we truly mean to be with them the rest of our lives.  The only way we can keep that love for our spouse in our heart is to have the love of God shown through our heart to our spouse.

Anyway, I ran 10.6 miles at an over 6:58 pace.  There was still a haze of fog but not as bad today.  The temperature was 26 degrees when I started running and by the end my mustache had icicles hanging off of it.  I probably looked like one of the ZZTOP guys.

Today I started my run around 8:30am.  I stayed up later and played a game on my Xbox 360 till 1am Friday night.  Since I'm not in training mode I didn't really care how my run went on Saturday or if I was going to run.   I did run and did 15.11 miles at an overall 6:59  pace in 1:45.  I did a few in in the 6:20ish range, but I will was just focused on enjoying the run, and the cold 19 degrees weather.  Went up by Satterfield and down Booth Rd.  Then went down Poleline Rd. and down Pocatello Creek Rd.

At least I did 50 miles this week.  I still have no plans for a targeted race right now, and I'm not sure I will.

Got up this morning and had a wonderful devotion with my wife.  It talked about how we can't let things get in the way of us reaching God.  Also that only true love for your spouse has to come from God in order for marriage or a relationship to work.  Love just can't come from you if you don't have God because it's not enough.

I ran 11.2 miles today at an overall 6:54 pace int 1:17.  I did a tinman tempo today in the last four miles of the run.

Mile 1:   6:16  ( coming off bench road and it's all downhill mile).  I took it easy not really pushing.

Mile 2:  6:25  (completely flat on Hiline Rd.  Took it easy and I felt good).

Mile 3:  6:16  (completely flat and the pace was comfortable.  It really wasn't a hard effort).

Mile 4:  6:17  (completely flat and endurance, form and stride rate all felt comfortable and not hard).

Did a 6:44  cool-down mile afterwards on the last mile to my house.

I'm not going to run the Salt Lake Marathon or maybe even the Ogden Marathon this year.   I don't want to spend a lot of money traveling.  Not sure what I will do this year.  I like running these but  I'm in the conserve money mode this year.  Sometimes you have to hold back and show wisdom and not do the worldly things you like to do.

Today's morning devotion was good with my wife.   It talked about salvation how we are born in sin, but if we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth we shall be saved.  Once we have salvation in our heart then the love can flow out of us.

Today, the temperature was 12 degrees with a little bit of a wind.  I ran 10.31 miles at an overall 6:52 pace in 1:10.  I seemed to be increasing my miles a bit.  Really I'm just going with the flow on what I feel like doing each day.  Tomorrow I have a early morning meeting at my daughter's school dealing with her learning disability "NLD", so I might only be able to run a couple of miles.

I was training to analyze my year of  training to get an idea what I want out of this year, and here's my thoughts and situation:

This year is going to be hard for training, because I have so many early morning meetings at work, (three meetings every week with no ending) and I can't run on my lunch hour, because I work on my lunch hour for my wife's daycare now.   I'm not going to get up any earlier to run, because the early morning devotion with my wife  is more important to me than running which I'd quit running if I even thought this.  Even if I wanted to get up earlier I wouldn't run outside, and Gold Gym (where my membership is) doesn't open until 6am.  I believe this will have to be a year of step back and I'll be out of the scene for a while.

Now things can change and if they do I will re-evaluate my situation, and would be able to train harder.  I will train hard with what I have available to do as far as my schedule is right now.

After a great morning devotion with my wife.  I ran on our treadmill that was finally fixed. Almost a year ago I fell off of it on valentines day when the board underneath split in two.   I cracked my head and split open my elbow when that happened.

We had an early morning meeting at the school to discuss my daughter's "NLD" diagnosis to see what support there going to help us with.  She's already in IEP in school which is Special ED.  We have a lot of work and support that were going to have to keep our daughter focused on to help her overcome this, and it will happen.

To get more miles in it was easier to run at home, "before the meeting ", on the treadmill than getting winterized to go outside.  I really probably only do it for today.  I ran 7.2 miles at an 6:40 pace in 45 minutes while watching the NFL network at home.

Lunch:

200 push-ups and 150 sit-ups on the office floor.

Had a good morning devotion with the wife.  Talking about even though were imperfect we can't reject each others love.  Times can get tough if a spouse tries to mold you in the person they want you to be.  A marriage can become selfish if you only want what you want, and continually reject the love from your spouse.  Christ loves us for who we are so why can't we love the person that we fell in love with for who they are.

SNOW SNOW SNOW this morning and lots of it.  I ran 11.33 miles at an overall 7:02 pace in 1:19 on only 4 hours of sleep.  I had to work late last night and had an early meeting so time was very restricted.  I ran up Satterfield Rd and down Bench Rd.  and then down Hiline Rd taking detours here and there to get the distance I wanted.  My body is really feeling good right now and the runner and endurance feels good.

SNOW, SNOW again.  I started my run at 7:30am and it never stopped snowing, or  let up at all.  I decided to do a longer run today to get some endurance fitness which I've probably lost a little.  I ran 18.41 miles at an overall 7:09 pace in 2:11.  I did some faster miles, but I mainly kept it on cruise control the whole run.

One thing I haven't metioned is I've been experiencing back pain for almost two weeks now and not sure why.   It started after struggling up a hill in one of my runs.  It's a very sharp pain at times, but it doesn't really hurt when I run.

Day of rest.  My back is still really bothering me where it's hard to get up at times.  I'm going to schedule a Chiropractor appointment for tomorrow or Tuesday.  Whenever I can get in immediately.  Just trust in God that's all I'm doing right now, and my attitude is good.

I've got other issues going on with my stomach that I need prayer for (so remember me in your prayers). Don't want to explain it right now but it's hard and frustrating to deal with.  Like I said my attitude is good.  It's just a sign where this year needs to be a cut-back year.

After our morning devotion which was awesome I decided to bare the 5 degree weather.  I ran 11.3 miles at 7:05 pace in 1:19.  I tried to avoid the ice as much as possible.

Evening:  More sit-ups and push-ups like always.    My back still has the same pain, and not any better.

This morning we had an extra long devotion on accepting your spouse who they are.  It also talked about how God let his son Jesus die on the cross for us, and it did matter if we accepted him or not.

My garmin was dead today and everything just didn't seem right to get ready to run outside.  Plus my time was short so I hopped on the Treadmill at home and ran 8.51 miles in 56 Minutes.  Several pick-up  miles to get some speedwork.  I set the incline at 1%.

Back still in the same pain and actually feels worse.

My wife woke up with a migraine this morning, but she still wanted to do our devotion so I did all the bible reading.  I prayed for her and right now she's feeling better.   If you trust in God and are obedient in your faith anything is possible.

I ran 11.3 miles at a 7:05 pace in 1:19 today.  This is the same actually mileage, time and speed that I did on Tuesday.  The temperature was nice today at 21 degrees a real heat wave and it felt good.

After my morning devotion with my wife I headed out to do a little faster run this morning.  I had a morning meeting at work which was a good motivator to run faster.  The temperature  was between 15 to 20 degrees with some fog.   I ran 10.12 miles at an overall 6:52 pace in 1:09.  The last 7 miles I wanted to keep under a 7 minute pace (6:51, 6:50, 6:51, 6:46, 6:52, 6:33, 6:17).

I probably won't do a long run tomorrow, because I'm going to run 11 miles with my friend Barry.  His goal this week is to reach 70 miles and all he needs is 11 miles to do so.  Me, I'll barely be above 50 miles which is fine with me. This cut-back in running has been great for my life and given me better balance.  I actually feel faster than last year and know at this point I could run under a 2:30 with God's grace.

Barry (on the blog) and I ran the back side of the Pocatello marathon course today.  It was cold but fun.  It was actually colder 1000 feet lower in the city than where we started.  We ran 11.2 miles at an overall 7:06 pace in 1:19.    We hit around 4 miles at a 6:2ish and 6:3ish pace.   I could of ran more but I didn't want to run more because breakfast sounded better.  Plus I'm not really training right now so a long run didn't matter.
