Still not feeling the best I decided to run. I had a sore throat and felt weak and was spitting up the fun yellow stuff. The funny thing is I never struggled on the run and my legs felt real fresh. I ran 9 miles at a 6:45 pace and even ran a few in the 6:30 range. I never looked at my Garmin until after the run because I didn't care what my pace would be. I've always been able to run pretty well when I'm sick.

Although my achilles/ankle whatever it is started really hurting after mile 8. I felt it on the whole run, but not really a pain just it was there. Mile 8 it was a pain. I have a doctors appointment today at 1:50 to determine what the issue is.

I went to the doctor and as I expected I have some Achilles Tendonitis in my right leg. He said I could take a week off and that could heal it totally, or maybe see if cutting the miles back each day might do the same thing.

What's everyone's opinion on this what I should do? ( I should post this in the forum discussion).

One good note is my resting heart rate was 39, and the nurse couldn't believe that so she checked it on the heart rate machine and by hand.

I am coming up with the track team to Simplot on Thursday. If you are up for an early morning run, let me know. I also think I have some time Friday after 5:30 PM. Hope you get feeling better.

Logan:

What time would you be able to run on Thursday morning and where would you want to run?

Are you running with your track team in the morning where I could meet you somewhere?

I'm going to let my Achilles probably rest Wednesday I should be fine on Thursday.

Unfortunately, I would second the doctors recommendation. The problem with inflamed tendons is that if you push them over the edge it could end up being bigger trouble. Overall though I would listen to your body because if you are doing a great run like you did today on the ankle I would hope that it isn't too bad. I hope the cold clears up and that you are back to 100% on both accounts soon...

We are staying at the Hampton Inn (151 Vista Drive). I looked at the schedule again and Thursday might not work for me. Friday morning at 5:00 AM works or after 5:30 PM. 5:00 AM might be a little early but we have a coaches meeting at 8 that I need to be at.

I would take the time off so you will be in the best condition possible for Del Sol. Maybe do some elliptical training or stationary bike to maintain your fitness.

Adam RW: Thanks for your advice. I'm trying to find what my limit is and still run but not over do it.

jtshad - Jeff thanks I'm going to try and run still but reduce the miles. With this coming on it definitely won't make me ready for the Del Sol Relay. If I totally took two weeks off I would really not be ready for the relay. I'm just hoping I can have a decent performance in the relay and not hurt the team.

I also would take time off. I had this injury throughout track in college and it ruined my entire season. Looking back, if I would have taken a few days off and rested some, I think I would have been much better off in the long run. It's a tough call, but cross-training isn't all that bad....

From wheakory on Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 13:44:33

Little Bad Legs: Thanks for the advice and is well received. If I feel that this is getting worst I will stop running and see if that helps, and just cross train.
