Was going to take the day-off, but I moved my treadmill in a different spot and I wanted to test it out to see if I liked it there or not.  I ran 2.3 miles in 15 minutes.  We rearranged this area where the Treadmill is at to make it more of an entertainment room.

Great devotion this morning with my wife about how we need to be united as one and support each others weakness and strengths.  If you think about it, Christ loves us through all our faults and helps us when we call upon him, and he doesn't back away when we struggle.

Morning run:

Temperature 7 degrees and my hands were so cold I couldn't feel them when I got home.  They hurt so bad, it took 20 minutes before I could feel them.  I have very bad circulation in my hands for some reason.  Their always cold.   Anyway, I ran 13.3 miles at an overall 7:00 pace in  1:32.  I ran longer today because I might not get a chance to run tomorrow because I have to work all night tonight starting at 11pm to put on my security patches.

I'm glad I'm not training for anything right now because with my work schedule and other changes in my life I really don't need too.

I got home early this morning from work around 5am (which was a 14 hour work day), then I got up at 8am (three hours of sleep) and ran on the treadmill 10.1 miles in 68 minutes at a 1% incline.  I didn't want to take forever getting ready to go outside, because I wanted to hurry and get back to work so I opted for the treadmill.  Not sure how I did it, but I didn't feel too bad just tired.  I'm sure it will hit me later today.  I got to work at 9:50am after the run.  I'm so busy at work that I didn't want to take the day off.  Running is becoming even less important in my life with other things taking control so racing may not be an option for me.  I'm enjoying more time with my wife and devotions in the mornings, and that's very important to me right now.

My back has had the same pain for three weeks now.  I think I'll try the chiropractor again.   It seems to be below the shoulder blades in the middle of the back.  I'm thinking it might be because of my increased amount of sit-ups.

I was so tired last night I went to bed at 9:40 after only getting 3 hours sleep in a 48 hour period. I slept 9 hours and it felt good. Although, I'm still tired but I'll try to get to bed early tonight.

After a great devotion I ran 11:31 miles at an overall 7:06 pace in 1:20 at 11 degrees. I saw Bill Mandler going up over the Monte Vista overpass "that looks over the freeway", as I was going down. He was doing another one of his great long runs. I didn't talk to hime because I had headphone on and I was trying to go a little faster on the downhill. I kept the run really slow today and thats good to just float along at times.

Great devotion on how important it is to read God's word everyday.  How can we know God close to our heart if we don't know his word.  Because God is his word.

This morning the temperature was a heat wave at 32 degrees.  Due to a meeting I was only able to run 9.3 miles at an overall 6:52 pace in 1:03.   I was trying to hurry but not push hard just relax, if that makes sense.  Very good run.  It was snowing a bit so the roads were wet and slushy.  Last 7 mile splits (6:47, 6:45, 6:44, 6:52, 6:43, 6:33, 6.22).

I'm suppose to do a longer run with Barry tomorrow.  I'm helping him train for SLC and Ogden Hal Marathon's since I won' t be going to those myself and not training for anything.  It's good to help others achieve their goals.

Temperature this morning was 19 degrees but didn't feel too bad.  I ran with Barry starting at the Pocatello Marathon course and coming down the back side on Pocatello Creek Road.  Barry ran 14 miles and some change.  I ran 16.3 miles with an overall average of 7:08 in 1:55.  I sped up the last few miles and ran (6:32, 6:47, 6:49).

We started before 7am and we had icicles hanging off of us when we were done.  Overall I felt fine and very energized after the run, and not taking anything on the run.  If I was running Ogden or SLC I would feel really good about getting a good time.  My hands still get cold even with mittens on.  Maybe I need to look in to taking some special vitamin for this.

Ran 12.2 miles on the treadmill in 1:22 minutes. I ran in my Ohana Racing Flats just because I haven't ran in lighter shoes for a while.

Then had a great devotion with the wife.  Now I'm headed off to church.

Just a note.  My son has said the funniest things lately.  This morning he drew a picture of our family and he told me to "take it to work and show my boss".  He also said "tell your boss that your 4 year old son drew this".  My son was also in trouble with my wife on Thursday.  My  son told my wife, "don't tell daddy yet, let me go into my room and pray to Jesus that I will share at the daycare".  My son is 4 years old.

It was around 20 degrees this morning and snowing heavy and very windy.  It was fun, this is one of the funniest runs I've had in along time without feeling bore or like it was a chore.  I enjoyed this morning.  I ran 11.24 miles at an overall 7:01 pace in 1:18.  My pace felt so easy and my legs felt so light.  It was an enjoyable run overall.

Had to run on the home treadmill this morning, because I was up early working on a critical problem with one of our systems at work.  I didn't want to leave the house in case the phone from our Operations Center.

I ran 10.1 miles at an overall 6:45 pace in 67 minutes.  I was trying to get the miles in, (at least 10 miles), so I could get to work.

Ran a little tonight just .2 just because.

This morning the temperature was 16 degrees and I really didn't want to get out of bed even though I got over 8 hours of sleep.  Once I got out of bed I decided to do a hard hilly loop today.  I ran 13.4 miles at an overall 7:00 pace in 1:33.

I ran up Olympus Rd. then up Satterfield rd and up the side streets that even go higher off of Satterfield Rd.  Then I headed for the downhill for about 3 miles then turned on Hiline Rd which their making into a five lane road so it's a mess right now.  Then I headed home.

Ran .3 with my backpack on just for some strength exercise.

After another great devotion with my wife this morning it was time to head out for a cold run.  The temperature was 4 degrees, and I needed to hurry because of an early morning meeting.  I ran 10.6 miles at an overall 6:56 pace in 1:12.  I ran down poline Rd.  then turned down Highway 30 then went all the way out to the University at the location of my office.  Then I headed home.  I really didn't feel cold but, it would have been if the wind picked up at all.

Ran with my back pack on my shoulder again tonight.  Only .2 its good strength training.

This morning Barry and I ran at the start of the Pocatello marathon course on the backside down Pocatello Creek Rd.  The same route as the last two Saturday's, but just a little different route the last couple miles.

Barry did good the last few miles and didn't struggle as much with the pace.  I'm trying to train him to run the last few miles strong so he'll be ready for the SLC and Ogden Half Marathon's.  He's really going to excel in these half marathon's.  He's got the mileage and getting the endurance to be confident and do well.

I ran just a half mile further than he did.  I ran the last 4 minutes at a 5:30 pace.  Totals13.2 miles at an overall 7:02 pace in 1:32.

I ran 71 miles this week and really not even training.  Just running to stay fit and to enjoy.  Racing has not really entered my mind.

Great Valentines with my wife yesterday.  We ate at Chili's and then we went and played Laser Tag with my brother and his wife, and my cousin (Barry on blog) and his wife.  Then we rented a movie at stayed up till 2:30am!

Got up late almost 9am, so I popped on the home treadmill and ran 7.3 miles  in 47:55 all at a 2% incline.  Then my wife and I had a great devotion of bible reading.  Then we headed to church.  My wife is a blessing and I love her so much.

Day off from work and running (President's Day)!  I've been taking Monday's off as it is rather than Sunday, because of the morning work schedule.  Spend the day doing projects around the house.

While I was working I listened to the bible all day long.  I have the whole New Testment on CD's.

Decided that I'm not going to run any races until September this year.

Great devotion again today (I think I say that every day now).  Devotions have really made my day start off good and not worry about how many miles I will get in, or how I will train for the day.  I really don't care because all that matters is what I'm doing for the Lord.  Everything we do and say must point to Jesus.

I ran 10.3 miles today in a beautiful snow fall at 29 degrees.  My overall pace was 7:02 in 1:12.  I finished the run with a couple faster miles (6:40, 6:07) and that felt pretty easy.  Didn't hit any hills today.  The run was mainly on a flat route that I haven't really run before.

Have to work tonight at 11pm so I did a sprint from my car to my office building which is .2 away where I parked.   Nice to get a little anaerobic.

I work yesterday from 8:30 till 5:30 than and to come in at 11pm that night and worked till 5:30 to put on security patches, and test a database fail-over procedure (not my responsibility for the fail-over part, my responsibility is to keep the systems in sync with the code I wrote for the file systems on the database servers).  We were having issues with Oracle database fail-over and that caused the time we were there to extend longer than we thought we would be there morning. Then after our DB discovered the problem (after 5 hours) it only took 2 minutes to fail-over, but took 5 hours to troubleshoot the simple solution.  In the future this fail-over should be easy.

I woke up at noon after the late night/early morning.  The last thing on my mind was running, but I hopped on the home treadmill for 4.1 miles in 26 minutes.  Then I grabbed something to eat, and decided to go to work at 2pm even though I didn't have too.  Did the last couple of minutes at a 5:30 pace.

Did little sprinting tonight just for fun even though I was dead tired from work.

I did not want to get up this morning after the long work day yesterday.  My mind, body, and everything else was just tired.  After our great morning devotion I headed out in 11 degree weather and fog.

I was really unmotivated and really didn't care if I took a step running today.  I even drank half a pop of caffeine to try and wake my body up.   I ran 12.5 miles at a slow 7:16 pace in1:30.  I felt really slow today.  Hopefully I can catch up on some sleep.  I'm sure glad I'm not training, because the way my work schedule is this year will be difficult to get any decent training in.  Right now my job is important and the only thing that matters so I must stay dedicated, because our Univeristy will experience lay-offs.  Running will just have to be for fun and not for training.

Did more sprinting tonight for about .2 to get the muscles juiced up.

This morning I got up at 5am and Barry met me at my house at 5:30am.  We drove up to the start of the Pocatello Marathon Course and ran the backside down Pocatello Creek Rd, then we headed up Olympus Rd.  then down Bench Rd.   Then turned on Hawthorne Rd., then turned on Cedar st.  then back down Mckinley Ave to my house.  Barry ran 15 miles and I added an extra mile.  I ran 16.31 miles at an overall 7:15 pace in 1:58.  I'll only count 4 miles as MP miles.  The temperature was only 8 degrees.

Barry did well and did not struggle at all today.  He's starting to get the endurance he needs to make some strong finishes in races.  He's going to excel in the SLC and Ogden half marathon's.  Me I'm just training him and content with not racing.

I do need to retire my Sacuony Tangent 3 shoes now because they have 570 miles on them.  They have been great shoes.

I could have ran forever today.  I felt great and ended the run with (6:53: 6:49) pace and that was very easy.  Did this with only 4 hours of sleep with our son keeping us up with a cough and leg cramps last night.

Evening:

I did .3 sprints again.  Then I ran up to the start of the Pocatello Marathon course running on the route to find my glove I lost that I didn't find.  I had my garmin on and I ran .6 of a mile.

I ran 10:21 miles at an overall 7:24 pace in 1:15 with the Pocatello Running Group.  We did a really good hilly workout.  We started up Martin Luther King road, then up Buckskin Rd which is all uphill.  Then American Rd. and it has some nice rolling hills.  Then we headed downhill out towards Ross Park and looped back to the bagel shop that we started at.

Barry ran with  the group as well and did a great job up the hills even though he hates doing hills.  But he's getting stronger running uphill.

Afternoon

I went with the kids to the Slimpot Games, and watched the High School top athletes in the United States run the 60m and the Medley Relay.  Also ran a bit with the girls for .3 which was fun.

Day-off.  I couldn't run anyway.  It seems from my first prognosis I have the same injury on my right foot as I did on my left foot during the Christmas time.  Its right above the heel on both sides. When I was running on the home treadmill Sunday on the last mile I started to limp because of the pain.  I'm thinking it might have been do to my shoes I wore on my long run being too wore out.  Who knows.

Lunch

200 sit-ups and 100 push-ups and air bridges.  My right foot still hurts.  I really don't know what to do for tomorrow if I should go to the gym and use the eplitical or try to run.  Or maybe swim for an hour.

I tried to run today after my morning devotion with my wife and it wasn't pretty.  I started and after ten steps my right heel started hurting and I was limping again so I turned around only after running 100 meters.  Then my wife ahead to work and saw me so she stopped and drove me home the rest of the way. I  ran 500 miles (no I wish).  I ran .24  only 1/4 of a mile for those of you who like math :-).  Oh well my attitude is fine.  I can always quit running and eat and get fat.  :-). After getting home I did around 100 push-ups and 300 sit-ups.   Would swimming be the best exercise right now to burn calories and keep the aerobic fitness going?

My plan is to cross train until Friday and then maybe try to run 16 miles with Barry (on the blog).  There's a definite pain there with the same symptoms as I had on the other foot.   I was starting to get back in the mindset of increasing my mileage back up  to 80 to 100 miles per week and this happens.   Maybe the Lord doesn't want me to race anymore, or he's telling me something.

I had to work to 2am last night to test our database fail-over.  We didn't quite get it working last week.  This week was better.  This Tuesday night maintenance maybe a standard for a while.  Running for me right now is not that important.

I did the Arc Trainer this morning for 7.3 miles in over a hour something.  I put the resistance at 7-9 and did hill intervals.  I put the hill portion at 19% incline then it would drop to 10%.  It was a good workout, but running is still more of  a workout to me.  My calves really did feel the workout though.

I'm not  going to do anything tomorrow to see if maybe I can run 16 miles Friday with Barry (on the blog).  I'm  trying to also schedule a acupuncture appointment which helped on my other foot.  After the gym today the foot did hurt so I might have over did it today for this type of workout.  Good attitude though, because I know that God is really the only important thing that matters and he can heal me in his timing.

I stayed off my legs this morning and rode on a stationery bike at Gold's Gym for 45 minutes and did a few sit-ups.  I'll count this as 3 miles.   My right foot still hurt this morning.  Hopefully, I'll be able to run with Barry tomorrow.

Lunch:

Lots of sit-ups and push-up.  Trying to supplement this for my running.

Got up at 4am to test to see if I could run 16 miles with Bill and Barry this morning.  I ran two painful miles on my right foot near the heel, by the heel, below the heel whatever.  Anyway my legs wanted to take off but can't do much when your hurting.  I did 2.12 miles at a 7:23 pace in 15:41.   I could have probably done 16 miles and sacrificed probably not running the rest of the year.  I did like that idea.  I've ran with pain several times and it's no fun.

My plan is get an acupuncture at 3:30am today.  Then take three day-off and just do cross-training on the sitdown bike, because it has less pressure than the elipitical and arc trainer.  Oh well I tried.  I guess I'll go back to bed for a while.  God does now what he's doing in my life and he'll heal me when its his time.  You have to have a good attitude and faith.  I'm going to have some good races this year because I'm allowing God to direct my steps not me.

Later in the morning:

After I slept till almost 7am and after the devotion I decided to hop on the home treadmill just to see if my foot hurt worse on the road or on the treadmill.  It didn't matter, but it did feel like it hurt worse on the Treadmill.  At one point I cracked it up to 5:30 pace for one minute and the pain didn't feel as bad at that speed.  Anyway I did another 2.23 miles  over 16 minutes.

Did 9.2 miles on Bike at 17 to 21 percent resistance.  Very tough miles on a hilly program.  A lot harder than running.  I'm going to count 4 as running miles.  My heel is still hurting.  Taking more time off will be the best thing right now.
